Bar/bat mitzvah
Commencing in 2003, in conjunction with the Foundation an annual Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebration is held for children whose parents cannot afford to make them a party. The children are outfitted with new shoes and festive clothes, the boys receive a kipa and a pair of tfillin. The celebration is a whole day affair starting first thing in the morning where the children and their families attend Shacharit services at the Great Synagogue in Jerusalem, followed by breakfast and then they carry on to the Kotel where the boys put on tfillin. Later on the whole group goes to a hall where they are served a lavish luncheon and entertained with music by a band. Just to see the smiles on their faces is priceless, this is by far one of their most memorable moments, something they will cherish forever.
